Whistlepipe Gully – Phone Photography

Date: Saturday 22 August 2026
AGM: 11 AM – 1 PM
Meet: (Northern end of) Lewis Rd, Forrestfield WA 6058 map reference
Join us for a Winter outing at the gorgeous Whistlepipe Gully in its peak season.
Put on your boots and come unwind as you walk through the luscious greenery. There is plenty of nature to capture and witness. From gushing waterfalls, a creek that flows throughout the entire trail, beautiful towering trees, wildlife, some wildflowers that have bloomed early and much more!
The trail is a moderately easy 90min walk (circle route) with some rocks to be mindful of. It is also 100% dog friendly so your furry four-legged friend will also appreciate the day out in the bush.
A truly unique view of the Perth CBD can also be seen from the trail, showing a bold contrast between nature and urban sprawl.
As the trail is very relaxing, this is a perfect opportunity to forget lugging a digital camera & lenses around and make good use of the amazing photography tool in your pocket, a smartphone! However, if you would like to use a digital camera or any other handheld camera you are more than welcome.
The Shutterpups team will be very happy to help you with some tips for phone photography and even show you some tricks for capturing great images.
After the walk will head to a The Best Drop Tavern for a snack/drink, and to share our experiences.

Shutterpups stages regular themed shoots around the Perth metro and outer metro regions. Once a year we also plan a (long) weekend event further afield, such as at a WAPF photography conference. The main aims of our events is to grow your skills by socialising and interact with other photographers. No matter your experience or gear, there is always something new to learn. There are many different types of events, so there is sure to be one that suits your interest: fast-paced sports; gentle landscapes; macros; or seeing the world in monochrome – we try to make the events as varied as possible.

- Prioritise your mental health today. The good news is there are lots of things we can all do to promote good mental health and take control of our mental wellbeing.
- Engaging in activities that keep us mentally healthy, is the most effective way to improve individual and community mental health and wellbeing.
