Guildford Eras

In historic Guildford we embarked on a journey to unlock the secrets of yesteryears. The well-trodden streets echoed with tales of old, and fading facades stood as silent guardians of the past..
The theme of this outing relates to finding and photographing buildings or architectural features that represent pioneer, goldrush, pre-war, post-war, and contemporary eras.
Our challenge was to find and photograph something that is unmistakably from the 21st century.

Sculpture by the Sea 2024

Sculpture By The Sea is one of our most popular events of the year. As always, the combination of art, beach, and light is truly inspiring.
Our challenge was to capture an image that embodies the excitement and/or awe of the people at the event.

Photographic Portraiture Workshop

Our workshop was hosted by our friends at Team Digital and the session led by Dale Neill, an award-winning Australian photographer with many years of experience in the field. The attendees had the opportunity to learn from the best and gain valuable insights into the world of portrait photography.
Not only did we receive instruction on how to improve our skills, but we all volunteered as models for each other.

Festive Lights 2023

Whether it’s finding a gorgeous new lighting installation, a fresh angle on a familiar decoration, or just the joy of the people about us, the annual Shutterpups outing to the festive lights trail always brings a smile to our viewfinders.
Our challenge this year was to bring a small Christmas-themed object and incorporate it into one of more photos.

PrideFEST Fairday 2023

This year Shutterpups put together a stall for Fairday to promote the club and showcase many of the great photographs taken by our members.

Perth Frontrunners Pride Run/Walk

Shutterpups was invited by the Perth Frontrunners as official photographers for the annual Pride Run/Walk. With more than 500 participants it was an amazing morning – the route including picturesque landmarks such as the Bell Tower, Elizabeth Quay, Narrows Bridge, and Swan Brewery.

South Perth Sunset & Cityscape

A cool October evening, with a mild breeze, made for perfect conditions to capture the sunset of the Perth city skyline.

Wireless Hill 2023

Wireless Hill Park is a great location to enjoy a wide variety of Western Australia’s native flora. The walking trails are easily accessed and the pictorial plaques are very helpful for identifying the species that flower in the park.

Urban Expressions

On a gorgeous Winter afternoon, the Shutterpups found themselves amongst the myriad of street art that adorns the buildings, paths, and laneways of North Perth. While the larger murals are truly breathtaking, the smaller ones are through provoking, or just give a wry grin.
As a challenge, some members used only their mobile phone camera to capture their images. Can you tell which is which?

Laboratory Visit

An energetic and curious group of members had the opportunity to visit the Dalcon Environmental laboratory. This is one of Western Australia’s principal laboratories for water quality testing.
Our host Dr Stuart Helleren arranged for 5 microscope workstations pre-configured for magnification in a range of different techniques from 40X to 1000X magnification.

One member exclaimed “I’ve gone off strawberries!”
