Our History

Shutterpups began as a humble Facebook group, set up as a mechanism to allow friends with a similar interest in street photography to come together, socialise and take photos each month.  Since then, the group has expanded to the wider LGBTIQA+ community.

The membership of the Facebook group has grown to well over 100 and in 2021 Shutterpups incorporated to be a fully-fledged, social club for LGBTIQA+ people.  The committee is determined to create an inclusive club that offers a photographic experience to its members and to be supportive and social at the same time.  Improvement is a key cornerstone of being a Shutterpup.

Shutterpups welcomes all gear types and all levels of photographic skill and experience.  Shutterpups believes it is important to get out & about, take photos and, within the bounds of your gear, challenge yourself to get the most interesting photos. Shutterpups shares their most interesting photos for each other to see and enjoy.  Outings and shoots are usually scheduled for once each

About and Join Us

The scope of Shutterpups photography has changed from its beginnings to include more than street photography.  Shutterpups has worked with community clubs, for example a shoot for product photography and merchandising as well as a recent portraiture shoot in collaboration with PrideWA, involving members of the community, for Pridefest 2021 marketing.

Shutterpups doesn’t run competitions within the Club but access to competitive events is available through our association with the Western Australian Photographic Federation (WAPF).  If you choose to compete you will find great support from fellow Shutterpups members.  Shutterpups also intend to hold forums/workshops with photographic judges, food photographers, and scientific photographers to impart their knowledge.

Make new friends, learn something new, and be with like minded people sharing a common hobby.
